Friday Five

1. I didn’t even go to the midnight Harry Potter premiere, but I still feel so tired today. I kept waking up all through the night for no reason and now I just want to go take a nap for the rest of the day.

2. This year I decided to read some books I never did read as a kid. So I’ve been reading The Chronicles of Narnia the last few months and I’m almost done. I’m about to start on the last book, The Last Battle. I was most familiar with The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe, which probably most people are too. I seem to faintly remember a cartoon version of it on TV when I was a kid. I did see the movie version that came out a few years ago, as well as the movie version of Prince Caspian. But it’s been really interesting to see what was changed between the books and the movies. I have to say that my favorite books of the series so far have been The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe, The Voyage of the Dawn Treader, and The Silver Chair. I liked the movie version of Prince Caspian a bit better than the book because the movie had more action. The book was a lot of sitting around and hearing stories or explanations or just waiting for other people to do things. I really, really struggled to get through The Horse and His Boy. I would have been finished with the series by now if it weren’t for the fact that I wasn’t enjoying TH&HB and would rather read other things. I just didn’t enjoy the characters in that book too much.

3. I kind of feel bad that there are many popular children’s books I never read as a kid. I think I was too obsessed with Sweet Valley Twins and the Baby-Sitters Club.

4. Not that I feel bad about being obsessed with SVT and the BSC. I always wanted to be Jessica Wakefield, even though I’m so obviously an Elizabeth. And in the Baby-Sitters Club world, I always wanted to be Stacey. Because she had the best clothes.

5. I’m so, so close to finishing the book I’m writing now. It’s still in that stage where I just don’t know if it even works or if it’s a complete mess, but I wanted to get the basic story down. After I get done, I kind of want to take a week or two off from writing and just read… But then I kind of also want to dive into the Troy High novella I’m working on… I don’t know yet which one will win out.

Have a great weekend, everyone!
