Nearest book meme

I was tagged by sboman for the nearest book meme that’s been going around. Here are the rules:

1. Pick up the nearest book.
2. Open to page 123.
3. Find the fifth sentence.
4. Post the next three sentences.
5. Tag five people and post a comment to my blog once you’ve posted your three sentences.

Techincally, the nearest book to me is my own. I have a box of copies of Something to Blog About sitting between the computer desk and the bookcase. But I’ll use something else instead.

“Go on,” whispered Mr. Beaver.
“No,” whispered Peter, “you first.”
“No, Sons of Adam before animals,” whispered Mr. Beaver back again.
The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, C.S. Lewis

Just for fun, I checked to see what the sentences would be if I did use my own book. Here they are:

I had never been involved in a fight before, but I had seen plenty in the halls of Yeardley High. And if I had a choice between fighting a guy or fighting a girl, I’d pick the guy any day. Girls fought dirty–pulling hair and scratching skin.
Something to Blog About

That happens to be one of my favorite scenes from the book and the one I had the most fun writing.
