The craft of writing

One of the things I enjoy most about writing is learning more about the craft. I have a shelf full of writing books on my bookcase and I read blog posts and articles online about the craft of writing–creating characters, building a plot, developing settings, etc. I absorb it all and love to read other authors’ opinions and tips on various parts of the craft.

Hopefully, I’m not alone in that! 🙂 I think it’s important for writers to continue to learn about the process of writing. I just saw these videos this weekend and I wanted to share them with you because they are some of the best I’ve ever seen about story structure. There are five parts which go over the 7 point story structure. It’s from a conference talk by horror writer Dan Wells and he gives such great advice in these videos. He breaks it all down using movies as examples so you can easily see how these stories fit into the seven points. If you’re a writer or hope to be a writer some day, be sure to watch these videos linked below!
