Summer can officially start now…

…because I have my three buckets full of fresh strawberries. Mmm! The Husband and I go every year in May to a local farm nearby and pick three buckets of strawberries. They are SO good. Now I need some shortcakes and Cool Whip for lots of strawberry shortcakes.

I would love to grow strawberries, but we’re not exactly doing very well at being farmers. The little tomato seedlings that had started coming up in our garden all died. So we had to go buy some already started plants last night and plant those. After we planted them, I said loud enough for the neighbors to hear, “Wow! Look at what awesome farmers we are. Our seedlings grew so fast!” I have a feeling I didn’t fool anyone though.

I’m not sure if our carrots and collards are going to come up either. We do have corn and cucumbers coming up. But apparently, we’re professional cucumber farmers. Last year, we ended up with at least a hundred cucumbers over the summer. We gave lots of them away, but still had a ton. I was eating cucumbers with every meal every day.

That probably explains why I didn’t eat a single cucumber all winter. But hey, it’s a new summer, I could eat a few cucumbers again this year until I’m sick of them.
