Brief recap

I had a great time in Florida last week visiting my family. We went bowling, went shopping, and played laser tag and mini golf and arcade games at Boomer’s. I attempted to climb the rock wall there, but I only managed to get a little ways up before I got scared and had to jump down. Even after hiking up a few mountains and standing at the top of a waterfall and on top of a giant rock, I still haven’t gotten rid of my fear of heights. It wasn’t looking down that scared me though–it was looking up to see how much higher I still had to go and then thinking about being that high up, clinging to little plastic things screwed into a wall.

While my mom and sister and I were at the mall, there was a heart health thing being sponsored by Diet Coke and featured red dresses worn by a few stars. Anyway, you could get a free health check so my mom and I signed up. Four years ago, my doctor wanted to just run some standard tests to make sure I was all healthy and he had a cholesterol test done. My test came back saying my total cholesterol was 260. Yikes. So he put me on a low fat diet and the next time I had it tested a year later, it was at 200. I hadn’t had it tested since then, but I have tried to stick with a lower fat diet and I walk regularly on my treadmill now. A cholesterol test was part of the heart health screening at the mall and it said my cholesterol is now 178. Woohoo!

This is my favorite thing about the drive to Florida:

The giant sombrero! It’s at the North Carolina/South Carolina border. The Husband and I took a day trip to South of the Border years ago, before we got married, to see what it was all about. Supposedly, you can ride the elevator to the top of the sombrero, but it didn’t look like it was open when we were there.

That picture turned out really well considering we were driving 70 mph down the interstate and I had zoomed in on the sombrero and snapped the picture really quickly without really framing it.

And then when we got to Florida, I got to see this little cutie:

She’s getting so big and growing up too fast! It seems like she was just born last week. Now she walks, talks, and dances.

Chloe says the best part of the trip is when we come back home and rescue her from the vet’s kennel.
