New year, new books

Happy new year, everyone! It seems weird that it’s a new year already. 2011 flew by. I spent my New Year’s Eve and Day sick and laying on the couch most of the time. I’ve been sick for about a week and am finally starting to feel better.

2011 wasn’t entirely the best year ever. My mother-in-law passed away in February and then a friend of ours passed away right before Christmas. Having someone close to you die makes you think about how quickly life goes. So I took a chance and released two ebooks, which I’m very happy about. Thank you to everyone who took the time to read The Boyfriend Thief and Surfacing! I’m working on new books and hope to keep releasing some ebooks each year.

Writing a lot also makes me want to read a lot. I had a goal of reading 100 books in 2011. I made it to 84, which is still a lot of books even if it’s not quite to my goal. This year I’m setting my goal at 50 for a little less pressure on myself. And also more time for writing!

Last year, I decided to read a book series I had never read as a kid and picked The Chronicles of Narnia. I did make it through the whole series, which I enjoyed for the most part. (Some of the books took me longer to get through because I didn’t enjoy them as much as the others.) I decided to make it a yearly tradition and pick another children’s series this year. So for 2012, I’m going to be reading the Little House on the Prairie books. I actually did read The Long Winter around the age of 12, but that’s the only book of the series I ever read.

What are your 2012 reading goals?
