NaNoWriMo Wrap Up

So how did all of you do in NaNoWriMo? I finished it up on Wednesday afternoon, with about 50,100 words. It was kind of a non-occasion because I’m not done with the book yet! I’m really only in the middle of it and still have quite a ways to go before I reach the end. So I’m proud of myself for getting 50,000 words in a month, but I’ll be even prouder once I reach the real END of this book.

I did a middle school visit earlier this week (hi, Mount Olive Middle School!!) and I talked to them about how much work goes into getting a book done. It’s not enough to just have an idea for a story you want to tell, you have to actually sit down day after day and write the words, then edit them to make it better. Sometimes this takes months. Sometimes it takes years. I love writing, but you have to be dedicated and you have to really want to get to that end result in order to have a career in writing.

A couple of links to where you can find me this week:

Community radio station KOPN 89.5 FM in Columbia, Missouri, is hosting a fundraiser right now and auctioning off a few items, including a SIGNED copy of Troy High. Go here to place your bid and click here to check out all the other items up for bids, including other signed YA books!

Author Heidi Hall did an interview with me over at her blog, so go check it out!

That’s awesome, Shana! You were a much better NoNo’er than me! 🙂

BTW, how did you end up hooking up with a radio station in Columbia, MO? (That’s where I went to college) Pretty cool about the giveaway!

      Thanks, Shel! 🙂

The radio station contacted me. They emailed and asked if I would like to donate a signed book for their auction. I’m not sure how they came across me, but it was very cool!
