Links for Wednesday

I’m coming off of two insane, stressful days, so unfortunately I don’t have much energy left for a real blog post. Instead, I’ll give you a few links I’ve saved lately.

  • YA author Katie Klein did an interview with me over at her blog. I talk about Surfacing and why I chose to go the indie route with it.
  • How Bad Do You Want Self-Publishing Success? Well worth a read, even for people who want to traditionally publish their books. In fact, it’s a worthy read for anyone who wants to do anything in their lives! At every appearance I do, people always ask how I find time to write when I still work at another job. I tell them that if you really want to write, you’ll find the time to do it. I get up at 5:00am and write for an hour before I exercise and then have to start getting ready for work. I write during my lunch hours most days. I don’t always write at night or weekends, but if I’m on a deadline I will. If it’s really important to you, you find ways to fit it into your day. Stop watching so much TV. Get up earlier or go to bed later. Write while you eat lunch. Whatever works for you, just do it and stop making excuses about not having time.
  • How I Went From Writing 2,000 Words a Day to 10,000 Words a Day. Okay, I’m nowhere near 10K words a day since I do have to spend 8 hours each day at another job, but this is a great post on another author’s writing process. I usually average 2,000 words a day–1,000 in my 5:00am session and another 1,000 in my lunch time session.

Happy Thanksgiving to all my American friends! And to everyone else, have a great week! 🙂
