Friday Five

1. When I went out to lunch, my car said it was 76 degrees. SEVENTY-SIX! Sunshine! Short sleeves! I’m in heaven!!

2. Next Friday I’m doing an all day appearance at a local middle school. I’ll be talking to six classes that day about being a writer, which is the most number of students I’ve ever spoken to in one day! I always get nervous about appearances even though I’ve done school visits several times already. I’m not too worried though–I always have a lot of fun speaking to classrooms, so I’m nervous but looking forward to it.

3. Also next Friday, the Breathless Reads tour is making a stop in Raleigh. Which is a couple hours away from me, but I really, really hope to make it there that night to see fellow YA authors Ally Condie, Beth Revis, Kirsten Miller, Brenna Yovanoff, and Andrea Cremer. Five YA authors in one place is too good of an opportunity to pass up! And hopefully I can also meet YA reviewer Book Chic if he can make it out that night too. So next Friday is looking to be very busy, but it should also be very fun!

4. Something weird: The place that I bought my car from gave me free oil changes and tire rotation for the first 20-something thousand miles. So a few weeks ago I went and had them do my very first service for 5,000 miles. I gave them the coupon, they gave me a receipt with my name on it and everything… and yet they STILL think I’m overdue for my oil change. They keep calling my house and sending cards in the mail saying “Our records indicate that you’re overdue for your 5,000 mile service. Please call us today to schedule an appointment!” Um, I already scheduled an appointment. You guys already did my 5,000 mile service. THREE WEEKS AGO. I’m not coming back to have it done again.

5. 76 degrees! I’m so looking forward to spring! This is the time of year when I’ve had as much of winter as I can stand, especially this year with all the snow and freezing temperatures we’ve had.
