It’s Monday! What Are You Reading?

It’s Monday! What Are You Reading? is a meme hosted by One Person’s Journey Through a World of Books.

What I finished up this past week:

Mr. Fitzwilliam Darcy by Abigail Reynolds
This is a reimagining of the end of Pride and Prejudice based on the premise of “what if Elizabeth had accepted Mr. Darcy’s first proposal?” It was an interesting and entertaining read, to see how things turned out compared to the original. I liked that certain events from the original still ended up happening, though with slightly altered circumstances.

Once Was Lost by Sara Zarr
I was interested in reading this because of the fact that it touches on religion and questions of if there is a God, how does He let bad things happen? Really enjoyed this look into one girl’s questioning and discovering what faith means to her.

Mermaid Park by Beth Mayall
I picked this up at the library because of the title and the fact that I love mermaids. It wasn’t quite what I expected, but I was enchanted with the Mermaid Park in the book. This would be a great summer read and made me want to be walking along the beach even during the cold weather we’ve had recently.

Cat Calls by Cynthia Leitich Smith
Cynthia’s Tantalize books are on my to-read list, but I haven’t gotten to them yet. Cat Calls is a short story available for free from Amazon.com right now so I read it over the weekend to introduce myself to her writing. A great, quick read!

What I’m currently reading:

Still working my way through the audiobook of Beautiful Darkness by Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl. I’ve already decided to buy print versions of the books though, so I can reread them later.

I’m also reading the print version Matched by Ally Condie and the Kindle version of Wish by Alexandra Bullen.
