Storm preparedness

It’s a nice morning right now. Cloudy, but I can still see bright blue sky between the clouds. Too bad the day is only going to get worse from here. Tropical Storm Hanna is coming to visit tonight. Thankfully, it’s just a tropical storm and not the category 3 hurricane that Ike currently is. Although a tropical storm isn’t exactly a fun time either.

As I listened to all of the school closings on the radio this morning, I remembered being a kid and getting a little excited when a hurricane came our way–just because it meant time off from school. Now that I’m older and have more to worry about than whether or not I’m going to school that day, I’m not very excited over hurricanes anymore. And I’m more worried over Ike that’s headed toward my parents in Florida than I am over Hanna headed toward me. Anyway, I’m prepared for Hanna. I have a DVD from Netflix to watch as long as the power stays on (Ocean’s 12, which we haven’t seen yet), Keebler Chips Deluxe Rainbow Chocolate Chip cookies, and two big bags of Krabby Patties. Yum!

I actually enjoy tropical storms because usually all they do is blow around, and rainy blustery days are nice for reading and writing.

But actual hurricanes are not fun. They’re a little much. And I’ve only been in a Cat. 1. It looks like Ike is turning more south and missing Florida, so…kind of yay. Except I imagine that means it’ll probably hit the gulf again. Ugh.

    Hanna was here today.

Hanna blew down part of our wood fence and broke the door on the greenhouse early this morning while we slept. I heard the wind and then the wall next to 95 started banging. We didn’t get alot of rain from it and the storm clear out here just after lunchtime.

Still watching Ike if it comes this way we are going to leave the area.
