We bought two unfinished bookcases from a natural wood furniture store that was closing down. I’ve been saying for a long time that I needed some tall bookcases because I had a giant stack of books on the floor of the computer room, even though I had cleaned through the stack several times and given away lots of books. I just had so many that I couldn’t part with.
So for the past month, The Husband and I have been sanding, staining, and polyurethaning. It took us so long because our work schedules make it hard for us to schedule time to work on a project together. I think the bookcases turned out really well, considering we’re both amateurs! The picture above shows the dark one that we put in the living room. The second bookcase was stained a light pine and is in our bedroom. Between these two bookcases and the two small ones I already had, I no longer have a giant stack of books on the floor!
