I had my face scraped off today.
Well, I guess more like blasted off since the paper the day spa gave me says they use a tool that sprays tiny crystals at your skin to remove the top layer. I had my first session of microdermabrasion. I’ve had acne since I was about eleven years old and finally, after tons of treatments (I even took Accutane as a teen and it didn’t clear me up completely) my skin seems to be mostly under control. Still getting some breakouts, but not anywhere near as bad as it used to be. I actually have very few real breakouts now, but I have lots of red marks and scars which makes my skin still look bad. Which is why my dermatologist suggested last year that I look into microdermabrasion. Finally decided to give it a try because the local day spa is running a summer special on it right now. So I got a mini facial and microderm. The mini facial was great. I got this cool menthol face mask spread over my skin and cold wet things put over my eyelids and the woman turned the light off and left me in the room to doze for ten minutes while the mask soaked in. If I’d just had someone giving me a massage while I laid there, it would have been perfect. But still, it was relaxing as is.
I don’t really see a difference in the scars (I had already expected that I would need several treatments) but my skin feels really smooth now. The microdermabrasion didn’t really hurt, just kind of felt like a wiry brush attached to a vacuum cleaner being wiped across my face. Better than I expected though. I had been imagining the spa lady bringing out a giant power sander with really gritty sandpaper on it.
The Husband took our dog Daisy to the vet the other day because she’d been having problems with her ears. Turns out she has infections in both ears. So now we have to clean her ears with a cleaner and then put medicine in them every day for a week. Our other dog Chloe is completely terrified. She hates having her ears cleaned and she knows what the bottle of ear cleaner looks like, so when she sees me grab it she takes off out of the room so fast she leaves skid marks on the carpet. She’s been walking around with her ears held back against her head, as if that’ll prevent us from getting to them in case we get any ideas about cleaning her ears too.
our springer spaniel had terrible ears, but he was such a good sport he let us clean them with little bad behavior. good thing its daisy not chloe!!!
and yay for soft faces 🙂
Accutane Side Effects
My name is Amanda Nourse and i would like to show you my personal experience with Accutane.
I have taken for 6 days. I am 27 years old. My dermatoglogist put me back on Accutane partially because Klaron, Rentin A, & Doxycyclin were NOT working….I have been on Accutane before about 7 years ago so not too concerned about the side effects. With my previous run on this medicine I didn’t have the severe back aches. I will say I did have tons of issues registering with the IPledge website…all too confusing all to combersome! Didn’t have to do that 7 years ago. Since this is my 2nd go round I can say that for me there were no depression issues because my skin looks awesome …tons of compliments. As with all things once I stop so will the side effects. This medication is obviously for those with severe acne so you should certainly weigh the pros vs. the cons…for me I didn’t think twice…
Side Effects :
I’ve been on Acutane for 6 days now & I will say my back is aching terribly & my lips are DRY!
I hope this information will be useful to others,
Amanda Nourse
