Amazed

I don’t ever realize how much I love writing until I haven’t done it in a while. I’ve been busy working on rewriting and revising book two this year, so I hadn’t worked on anything else. After I finished the most recent draft of it, I took a break from writing and editing to clear my head a bit. Then a week ago I got the itch to write again, so I pulled out the laptop and started writing on a book I had started last year but didn’t finish. Just something I’m having fun with and seeing where it goes. I don’t outline because for me the fun in writing is discovering the story along the way.

Yesterday I got a package from my wonderful marketing director at Amulet Books, which contained a bunch of copies of the Book Sense June newsletter that you can pick up at independent bookstores. On the back page is Something to Blog About, listed with the other summer teen picks. I knew about it already, but seeing it makes me feel really awed and honored to be on the same list with Melissa Marr and Sarah Dessen!

I was amazed with BookMooch this weekend. I felt the need to clean out a lot of my magazines that I had stacked up in the computer room. I felt kind of bad about throwing away my old knitting magazines since they were still in pretty good condition even though they were from 2001-2003. I remembered seeing some magazines listed on BookMooch before, so I thought I’d give it a try. If no one wanted them after a few months, I’d just toss them. An hour after I entered the magazines into the site, people had already requested all of them. Wow.

Now I just have to get myself to the post office to mail them out…
