Something to Blog About got a great review on TeensReadToo.com! Yay!

Oh, I really, really hope Ian McKellen gets to play Gandalf in The Hobbit. It wouldn’t be right for anyone else to fill the wizard’s shoes.

Everyone is talking about Sweet Valley High being rereleased with changes. Specifically, the fact that the twins are now “a perfect size 4” instead of “a perfect size 6.” I’ve known for a while now that the series was being rereleased because of a Sweet Valley High community I read on livejournal, but this is the first I’ve heard about the changes that are being made. I am disappointed–I had hoped that maybe the size references would be removed entirely. Honestly, I always skip over the descriptions of the twins while reading the books (I skip over the descriptions of the girls in the Baby-Sitters Club books too, although I do check to see what Claudia and Stacey are wearing).

I’m not planning on buying the new books anyway. I’ll stick with the originals.

(This is only a small part of my collection, though I am still missing some. I’ll work on completing it one day.)

I actually got rid of all of my Sweet Valley books when I started college. But then a few years ago I came across a Sweet Valley High book, fell in love with them again, and started buying some on ebay and at library book sales so I could reread them whenever I wanted.

lol, I did see the stash guy. Unfortunately, that’s one of the books I don’t yet have so I can’t enjoy the stash in person, but it does make me laugh every time I look at pictures of it.

Isn’t a perfect size 4 really like a 10 now anyway? I read somewhere that the fashion industry keeps lowering the sizes– that is why there are so many size zeros walking around now. Like, Marilyn Monroe was a size 16 but that same size 16 would be considered a 10 today.

I always had to know whether Stacey was wearing a super-cute floppy shirt with pink buttons, pink baseball cleats, and a tye-dye hat. I HAD to.

The part about the family and diabetes and whatnot = skiparoo

Yeah. That whole size thing ticked me off. I don’t really have a SVU collection. Now BSC on the other hand…

they are making them skinnier? ugh.

that is funny, I do the same thing with the BSC books! Kristy is a tomboy… blah blah Maryanne is shy blah blah… ooh what are Claud and Stacey wearing though?? 🙂

    SV BS

Okay. They have had the same descriptions for god knows how long now. I realize with time does come change. However, I would think a new set of kids (ie Liz and Todd’s, or Jess, and Ken’s,) would be more ideal. Am I alone here

      Re: SV BS

I agree, it would be nice to see Jessica and Elizabeth’s kids. There was an article a few years ago that Francine Pascal was working on a new series, Sweet Valley Heights, that would be about the girls in their twenties or thirties, but there hasn’t been any more information about that series so I don’t know if it’s ever going to be released.
