My delayed welcome to 2010 post

Eventually I should update my blog. And I keep meaning to. But I wanted to have this awesome, amazing welcome to 2010 post…and it just never showed up. So you’re stuck with this one.

The Husband likes to make fun of my frequent goofs during conversation:

Me: Is that the guy from Blue Collar?
Husband: What?
Me: Blue Collar. That show we keep seeing commercials for.
Husband: Um, White Collar?
Me: That’s what I said.

Husband (watching me play Super Mario Brothers Wii): What are you doing?
Me: I have to get this marshmallow guy and take him through the level because he apparently can’t do it himself.
Husband: What kind of guy?
Me: Marshmallow.
Husband: You mean mushroom? As in, Toadstool?
Me: Marshmallow, mushroom, whatever.

They just put in these new handsfree paper towel dispensers at work that DO NOT LIKE ME. They refuse to admit that I actually exist and give me a paper towel when I put my hand in front of them. Anyone else can walk right in there and get paper towels on the first try, but I have to threaten it before it finally gives me one.

I think we’re going to have to find our newest cat, Kit, a new home. Did I mention we had a fourth cat? If not, a few months ago, a stray cat just showed up at our house, begging for food and attention. She kept coming back, so eventually The Husband brought her into the house. And she’s been here ever since. Problem is, our other female cat Callie does NOT like Kit at all. Kit gets along well with Elmo and Bandit, our other two cats, and with our dogs Chloe and Daisy. But Callie stalks Kit and attacks her any chance she gets. The other day, they had big clumps of hair all over the living room floor from their fighting. We’ve tried giving them time and trying to ease the tension when they’re around each other, but it’s just not working. Kit is such a sweet kitty so I hate to give her up, but we do have someone interested in taking her who will give her a nice home. But it still makes me sad because Kit has especially attached herself to me.

And finally, the disaster in Haiti reminds me to be thankful every day for what I have and remember that it can all be taken away in an instant. I’d want someone to help me if I needed it, so please consider donating to the Red Cross or any other organizations that are assisting those that need help. Even five dollars can help. You can probably even find organizations in your area that are working to accept donations or supplies. Or you can give blood at a local blood drive because it’s always needed.

Okay, off to go work on a story I’ve been playing around with. Night!

P.S. – It’s very hard to update my blog when a certain cat keeps sticking her big head in front of the screen. I’m looking at you, Callie.
