Wii dancing kicks my butt

So remember how I got EA Sports Active for my anniversary present from The Husband? Well, in mid-June I developed tendonitis in BOTH ankles and had to stop working out entirely for almost a month because even just walking hurt really bad. So I picked it back up in mid-July and by mid-August, had completed the 30 Day Challenge.

I still like EA Sports Active. The workouts are fun and it mixes things up for you. The one thing I don’t like is that on the preset workouts, if I uncheck some of the exercises because I don’t want to do them that day, I can’t substitute other exercises in place of them. It just makes my workouts shorter. I blame the tendonitis on all of the jumping around exercises that it was making me do–jump lunges, side to side jumps, jump squats, kick ups, in-line skating with jump ramps. Also, jumping exercises aren’t a good idea when I exercise at 6am before work and The Husband is still sleeping in the next room.

So after taking a break from EA Sports Active and using my treadmill for a while, I decided last night to create my own exercises in the game without any jumping exercises. I’ll use the running and dancing for all my cardio instead of jumping and hurting my feet again. I was scrolling through the exercises, trying to create the perfect workout, when I saw some that my 30 day challenge hadn’t given me. I’d done Intermediate Dancing already, several times, but there was also Fast Dancing and Fastest Dancing. I said, “Well, the Intermediate Dancing was too slow for me, so let’s go for Fastest Dancing.”

“Fastest Dancing” is the wrong name for it. They should have named that one “CRAZY-FAST Dancing.” It’s just moving your arms in the directions it tells you because I wasn’t doing the version that uses the Wii Fit balance board, but I couldn’t keep up. I kept doing the movements too late and not getting credit for them. Crazy-fast!

It was, however, a fun workout with no jumping around like a monkey so I’ll call it a success. I will conquer CRAZY-FAST Dancing!
