My updated soundtrack to my life, because I have nothing else to write about

I’ve done this meme before, over two years ago, but I really like it and I don’t have anything else to write about right now (except that I’m addicted to Farm Town on Facebook) so I decided to do it again. I always make soundtracks for my books and soundtracks for my workouts, so why not update the soundtrack to my life?

Put your iTunes on shuffle and the songs it plays are the answers to the categories below, in the order they play. It’s the soundtrack to your life.

1. Opening Credits: “Softer” by Jonathan Cour
2. Waking Up: “Who Will Save Your Soul” by Jewel
3. 1st Day at School: “Stronger” by Britney Spears
4. Falling In Love: “Come On Get Higher” by Matt Nathanson
5. Breaking Up: “Run Away” by Jonathan Cour
6. Prom: “To Be an Angel” by Uncle Seth
7. Life’s OK: “Bad Reputation” by Joan Jett & The Blackhearts
8. Driving: “Sending Postcards from a Plane Crash” by Fall Out Boy
9. Flashback: “What Hurts the Most” by Rascal Flatts
10. Getting Back Together: “Ready for a Fall” by PJ Olsson
11. Wedding Scene: “I Will Buy You a New Life” by Everclear
12. Final Battle: “Only Happy When it Rains” by Garbage
13. Death Scene: “Never Come Around” by Jonathan Cour
14. Funeral Song: “Heaven Forbid” by The Fray
15. End Credits: “Free Bird” by Lynyrd Skynyrd

Funny how the old soundtrack and this one both started off with Jonathan Cour songs. Actually, my iPod always seems to love Jonathan Cour because it always plays his songs toward the beginning of the random shuffle. And both soundtracks include an Everclear song. Like before, some are oddly accurate. I actually would choose “Free Bird” for my end credits. Which would play in the background while I pretend to play the guitar during the long music only part. I’ll even jump off the amps and slide across the stage on my knees like a real rocker. And tease my hair all up with tons of hairspray and wear some cool brightly colored and patterned leggings. Because apparently my idea of “rocker” is synonymous with “80’s hair band.” Hey, I’m a kid of the 80’s. 80’s hair bands are what I used to dance around in my grandma’s living room to on MTV. A secret part of me still dreams of being in a hair band.

So, um, yeah, you can see I have some Britney Spears songs on my iPod. I’m always a bit ashamed of it, but the fact is that I do like a few of her songs. I always say that I’m never really a fan of artists or groups themselves, I’m a fan of music. And I have a wide variety of music I like–from Britney Spears to Led Zeppelin, Eminem to Rascal Flatts. I have problems thinking of an answer when someone asks what musical artists I like because really I wouldn’t name anyone that I listen to as a favorite (except maybe Led Zeppelin, because I like more of their songs than anyone else’s), but I can name lots of favorite songs off the top of my head. They change a lot though. (The Falling In Love song “Come On Get Higher” is one of my current favorites.)

LOL our cats sometimes do that too but usually they just eat it and roll around once it’s in their systems. Some of our cats actually get defensive of the catnip near them and lash out at others, or they get paranoid. It’s truly a sight to behold, and also to laugh at.

(PS Are you still planning on coming to the signing in Raleigh? I’m working out how to do it despite being broke, lol)
