Over a year ago, my Grandma Mary confessed that she didn’t really understand blogging when she read Something to Blog About, but that she loved the book anyway. She was in the hospital back when I got the advanced reader copies for STBA and I brought her one to read while she was there. She asked me to sign it for her and when she got home, she kept it tucked away in a safe place so no one could mess it up.

She always asked me about my writing and told me every time I saw her how proud she was of what I had accomplished. She said she was eager for Troy High to be released so she could get an autographed copy of it.

Grandma passed away last night. She had stomach cancer and had gone through surgeries last year that left her weak and looking so completely different from the person she’d always been. But in the last few months, she had started to look better. She looked as if she had started to gain back some weight and she was more alert and able to communicate better. Yesterday she went to sleep at home and didn’t wake up.

The release of Troy High will be bittersweet. My dedication for that book is to all of my grandparents, which was supposed to be a surprise so I hadn’t told Grandma about it. I had hoped she would get to see it and get to read the book and tell me what she thought of it.

Love you, Grandma.

(My grandma had the same reaction re: blogging in my book.)

My thoughts will be with you and your family.

Can’t say it any better than what has already been said. Praying for you and yours! And your beloved Grandma will know about your book — no doubt she’s already leading the cheers for you in heaven.
