Snow me in, please

We’re getting a blizzard tomorrow!

Okay, so it’s supposed to be 3-6 inches. And I know a lot of you are saying, “Three to six inches? Oh please!” and rolling your eyes. But according to the Eastern North Carolina Official Weather Dictionary (which I just invented), that’s a blizzard. When we get an inch of snow, everything closes down and people drive into ditches. At 3-6 inches, we get prepared to be snowed in until April and stampede toward the grocery stores where we karate chop each other over milk and bread. Good thing I noticed last night that we were running low on milk and asked The Husband to get some this morning. We’ve got milk, bread, peanut butter, Tostitos and cheese dip, and Fruit by the Foot candy. I also have blankets ready so I can wrap myself up into a blanket burrito to fend off the cold. Because I’ll still be cold even though we have central heat. (I’m a total wimp when it comes to temperatures below 60F!) I think we’re all set.

I don’t really like snow. It’s way too cold and I think it’s pretty for about five seconds, before people and animals walk all over it, but if it’s going to snow, I like it to snow enough that I can’t leave my house.

    Hey Shanna —

I laughed out loud when I read your post about the blizzard coming to eastern North Carolina. I grew up in Jacksonville and moved to Northern Virginia about 4 years ago. Here it SNOWS. About two weeks after I started at the newspaper here, we had 4 inches of snow one afternoon. I stood looking out the window and asked, so, when do things shut down? They just looked at me in amazement. I was ready to do some serious bread and milk buying and head home.
    Enjoy the snow.

LOL! I have a few coworkers who grew up in the northeast and they think we’re crazy with how we act over an inch of snow. 😉

[I have to travel to Jacksonville a lot because the company I work for owns the Daily News. :)]

I went out last night at about 5 for bread and milk (after they’d reported all day that the end was near). The grocery store was *crazy*. I mean, MAJOR pile-ups on Aisle Twelve.

It was *so* great! And it’s so pretty here. I’m going to take baby girl out to play after lunch, but I *hate* to mess up my beautiful yard. . . .

Yikes! I went to the grocery store during my lunch yesterday to get yogurt and it was already packed then!

My dogs are loving the snow. They keep running around in it and licking snow off the ground. I hated walking around in the yard and messing up the snow, but it’s still falling here so it’s already covered all our tracks back up. I hope your girl has fun! 🙂
