I really want to be a professional gift wrapper

I like wrapping Christmas presents. There’s just something about wrapping the gifts up in neat little packages, creasing the edges of the paper into folds, and sticking a bow on top that makes me happy.

When I lived with my grandparents for three years (1997-2000), I would always wrap my grandma’s gifts for her. My grandparents have six kids plus their spouses, nineteen grandchildren plus their spouses (for most of them, some are still teens or younger), and now twenty-three (about to be twenty-four) great-grandkids. So they always have a ton of presents to wrap.

I thought I would miss wrapping all those presents after I moved out, but yet, even though I no longer live with them I still somehow end up wrapping a big majority of my grandma’s presents for her anyway. I went over to visit for a little while yesterday afternoon and within an hour found myself wrapping gifts.

Even though I no longer live in the same house, I still get the joys of wrapping tons of Christmas presents. Just provide the paper, tape, and bows, and I’ll be happy for hours!

Can you provide your expert services to me? I’m not that fond of wrapping gifts. I love the idea of it, and want to like it. But I get bored after the first few boxes.

I feel the same way, and I did used to be a professional gift wrapper. The stationery store I worked at provided gift wrap services. Most of the year I’d only get to wrap a few a week, but during the holidays we were the only place in the mall that did wrapping and I’d often end up spending hours in our back room wrapping one gift after another. It was still fun most of the time, but when I had to deal with customers who were cranky or in a hurry or tried to criticize the job I’d done after I finished, that was not fun at all.
