Zoo Hairdos

On Friday, I had the chance to talk to some students at my old middle school about being a writer. The librarian hadn’t revealed much about me beforehand, just that I was an author, so it was really cool to get to tell the kids that I went to the same school they’re now attending. It was really fun. The students seemed really interested in the path to publication and asked a lot of great questions, although I think I may have disappointed them a little when I said that no, I don’t have tons of people following me around all the time wanting my autograph. But I pointed out that that was the good thing about being a writer–if I trip and fall on my face while walking down the street, it won’t end up all over the newspapers like it would if Britney Spears did it.

Yesterday, The Husband actually had the day off from work (he’s usually working weekends) so we headed down to Lynnwood Park Zoo in Jacksonville, NC, to spend the afternoon. They had a few animals with awesome hairdos there.
