I absolutely love Jane Austen. I just finished watching Persuasion on PBS, which if you haven’t heard yet, kicked off Masterpiece’s The Complete Jane Austen–all six of Jane Austen’s novels in movie form–tonight. Northanger Abbey is airing next Sunday.
Also, I’m loving ABC right now for putting episodes of My So-Called Life online. I lived for this show during its too short run. I tried to dress like Angela (which I now cringe to think about), wanted to dye my hair red, and wanted so desperately to meet my own Jordan Catalano (which, um, I kind of did because I was fifteen and easily won over by long hair and a mysterious loner image. And also, I blame Jordan Catalano).
Oh, Jordan Catalano, you were the model for many of the love interests in my teenage writings. Although now I realize you really treated Angela like crap and I don’t think she should have wasted her time on you, even if you do lean great. But in high school you go after the Jordan Catalanos just because they’re hot. Once you’re out of high school, you go after the Brian Krakows because they’re the guys who get a good job and make enough money to help you pay the bills on the nice house you live in and the nice car you drive and treat you like a queen.
I was in love with Brian Krakow…yup…I was a total geek, even then! 😉

i had such a jordan catalano jerk-off that i loved during high school. he’s probably in a gutter somewhere now (or worse, an evil alchoholic womanizing executive!)
I thought Persuasion was filmed soo beautifully! there were a few shots where I just wanted to pause it to stare at the prettiness. I’m so excited about all the Jane Austen goodness =D
oh man, I was OBSESSED with MSCL — seriously. Jordan Catalano… oooooh yeah! but, I too, really liked Brian, though I thought he had some kind of jerky moments too – just like a real boy, I guess. one of the best shows ever!
I just finished Persuasion today. I loved it. I’m so excited for Northanger Abbey.
And I agree, I loved Jordan Catalano, too. Shameless I still love the bad, guys in most movies/tv shows. Though, I like them much nicer than Jordan ever was to Angela.
I loved MSCL; I’d watch it and identified with her a lot back when I was 14.
I liked both Brian and Jordan Catalano for different reasons, and I really wish they had kept the show on for longer than half a season or however long it was! I remember being crushed when they cancelled it.
