It’s not too late for a resolutions post, is it?
Really, I don’t make resolutions, except for one that I’ve made every year since 2005: Don’t take life so seriously. Have fun. Laugh more.
I think the beginning of the year is a good time for a reminder to have fun and enjoy life, so that’s what I’ve made my resolution for the last few years.
But I do have “goals” for this year that I don’t really call resolutions.
- Continue to get exercise. I’ve been walking regularly on my treadmill since I got it in October. I feel great, I love the muscle in my legs, and walking 1.25 miles every morning before work isn’t something that I have to force myself to do anymore. So as long as my treadmill will keep up with me, I’ll keep at it.
- Complete Book Two of my contract. Well, of course! The book is due in April.
- Promote Something to Blog About. Apparently, this is the year that I become a public speaker. Introverted Shana has to pack up and get out because there’s no room for her.
- Win the Halloween costume contest at work. I got second place in 2007, which isn’t bad since I didn’t even think of a costume until the night before the contest, but this year my goal is to beat out the boss (who won last year). I just need to figure out what I’ll dress up as…
- Read 50 books. I read a lot–I read while I’m on the treadmill–so it’s not hard for me to read at least 50 books a year.
- Visit a place I’ve never been before. This one is already planned for me–I’ll be at the ALA conference in Anaheim, California, in June. I’ve never been west of Tennessee, so this is going to be my Big Adventure for the year!
- Start my career as the next great pop star. Okay, maybe not. You all really don’t want to hear me sing. Trust me.
- Eat chocolate. If I put it on my list, then I can use it as an excuse for buying chocolate every time I go to the grocery store. So there.
Elmo’s resolution is to get on the treadmill every day. But he’s not promising that he’ll actually do any walking on it.
Good luck!
Hi Elmo, cutie cat that you are.
We used to have the Ab-Doer and my kitties LOVED to sit on it. What is it with cats and exercise machines?
..Ab-Doer bit the dust when the kitties scratched all the foam off the handles.
How fun to get to travel someplace new 🙂
I’ve never been east of Ohio (and I’m not sure that even counts as it was only the airport) — so maybe I’ve never been east of Michigan 🙂
