Today is my niece’s first birthday! I can’t believe it’s been a year already since she was born. She’s gotten so big in the pictures and videos. I wish I was in Florida to attend her birthday party. (Especially since today in eastern North Carolina the temperature is in the 30s! I’m freezing my butt off!) I’ve really noticed the distance between myself and my family this past year, with not being able to see my niece grow up. But if we lived in Florida, then we’d miss out on The Husband’s nephews growing up. So there’s no easy solution either way. Except maybe to move to Georgia and be halfway between both families and not be able to see either very often.
Anyway, I will get to see my family again at Christmas. My parents, sister, and niece are coming up for the week. And then The Husband and I have been talking about going to Florida in January or February so hopefully I’ll get to see them again then.
But I really wish someone would hurry up and invent human teleporting. That would make things so much easier.

Human teleporting would be fun! Happy birthday to your niece. They grow up fast. Don’t you love being an aunt, though? I don’t get to see all my nieces and nephews nearly enough, either.
They do grow up too fast! I was looking at some pictures of my niece the other day and thinking that she was already starting to look more like a little girl than a baby. I love being an aunt. I get to play with the kids, spoil them, and then send them back home to their parents. 😉
