Where I write

susanwrites asked where writers/artists/musicians/etc create their work. This is my spot:

The corner of our sectional couch. I didn’t realize until now how small I look on the couch, lol. I am short, but I don’t think I’m quite as small as I look in the picture, it’s just kind of a big couch. I like writing on my laptop better than the desktop. The desktop is in the computer room and there are too many things in there to distract me.

See? Magazines and Sims 2 games, very distracting.

Scrapbooking table is also distracting.

And the most distracting of all. If I try to write at the desktop, I’ll usually end up reading someone else’s book instead of writing my own. (Those two huge stacks next to the bookcase? My Baby-Sitters Club collection. And then the smaller stacks are my Sweet Valley collection. Yes, I am in great need of a new bookcase. Those empty spots on the bottom shelf are because I just got rid of some books through BookMooch and haven’t moved anything into their place yet.)

So there is a TV in the living room that could distract me while writing in there, but I’m pretty good about keeping the TV off. When The Husband is working on weekends, most of the time I keep the TV off all day. So relaxing on the couch with my laptop works best for me. Well, it does until the cats try to get into my lap or Chloe brings me her tennis ball to throw.
