Preparation

I’m making great progress on the LIBBY revisions. Still a lot of work to do, but a lot is already done so I’m feeling good about it.

My employer did a short mention about my book deal in our regional company magazine that came out this past week. So people keep coming into my office and saying, “So you’re famous now!” And I say, “Uh…not yet!”

So since then I’ve been answering a lot of questions about how book publishing works. Most people want to know why my release date is so far away. It’s only a year, some people have to wait longer than that. My guess is that they hear about things like the new Harry Potter, which is being rushed to printing and coming out this summer. But the first Harry Potter book probably wasn’t rushed to printing, was it? I’m sure J.K. Rowling, as an unknown novelist, had to go through a normal publication timeline back then. I mean, yeah, it would be awesome if my book was in the bookstores tomorrow, but in reality, I’m happy with the target date I have. There’s still a lot of work to do to get the book ready–and to get my shy, so not used to being the center of attention self ready for any booksignings that might happen.

Have I mentioned before that I have a stuttering problem when I get nervous?

I keep thinking your Jack Sparrow icon says “OH BURGER,” which is pretty hilarious.

I know what you mean about being the center of attention. I’m okay with being that if it’s one or two people around, but any more than that, I’m super-self-aware and fidgety.

Glad the revisions are coming along! I read somewhere that JK’s advance for Harry Potter #1 was 1,500 British pounds, which is less than $3,000 — my how times have changed for her 😉

    This is exciting 🙂

As for the stuttering, hm…I do have a friend who’s a speech therapist. If you’re still concerned later on, let me know and I’ll ask her for some tips!
