Taking a nosedive into your backyard? Not fun.
We were outside with our dog Chloe last night. Chloe isn’t a huge dog, she’s a Border Collie/Australian Shepherd mix, but she is very strong. She has in the past dragged me stumbling across the yard when she’s seen something she wanted to get to. Of course, the husband would say that it’s not just that Chloe is strong, but that I’m a weakling.
We don’t have a fence around our yard, so Chloe has to be on a leash when she’s outside. I was holding the leash and the husband decided it would be funny to say, “Come on, Chloe, let’s drag your mom across the yard!” Then he started running. Chloe thought he was playing with her and took off after him, catching me by surprise. I felt like I was in a cartoon. My upper body went forward through the air, my feet went up, and then my upper body went down into the ground. I landed on my right shoulder, which still hurts this morning but I can move it so I assume nothing is broken. Chloe dragged me across the grass a few inches until my shouts made the husband stop running and turn to see what had happened.
I was laying on my back, laughing, when he ran back to me because at the time I didn’t hurt yet. It wasn’t until a few minutes later that my shoulder started to ache and then my neck and finally my head. I had to lay flat the rest of the night because it hurt worse when I sat up. Still sore and aching this morning, but everything seems to be moving around like it should.
I kind of wish we’d had a video camera though–I’ve always wanted to be on America’s Funniest Home Videos.
Whenever I’ve seen America’s Funniest Home Videos, I’ve wondered if the people got hurt. Now, I feel like I have some idea. The scene you describe is hilarious, but I do hope you’re alright.
Some of those falls and tumbles the people on America’s Funniest Home Videos take, they have to be hurting. Some of them really make me cringe and say “Ouch!” while I’m watching.
Thank you, I think I’m okay. A little sore, but everything seems to still be working properly. 🙂
Yikes! It sounds like Chloe took you for a walk (or a drag) instead of the other way around. Hope you feel better!
