‘Tis the season

Every year I vow that I’m going to get my Christmas shopping done early, at least three weeks before Christmas. I vow that I will not be one of those people still out scrambling for gifts the week before Christmas.

And every year I am one of those people anyway. Gah.

I do have most of the shopping done. My parents and siblings aren’t coming up for Christmas, so I ordered their gifts last week and had them shipped to Florida. I bought my two nephews’ gifts two weeks ago. And I went shopping this weekend for some of my husband’s gifts and a gift for my Secret Santa person at work. So now all that’s left is to finish getting the husband’s gifts (mostly stocking stuffers), something for my paternal grandparents (my maternal grandparents have instructed everyone not to buy them anything this year), and gifts for the husband’s parents, sister, and brother-in-law. Not too bad, but one day I really am going to get all my shopping done early, I swear. Maybe not until I’m eighty, but one day it’ll happen.

Anyway, I’m happy today–even though I’m very tired because I accidentally took a nap late yesterday and had a hard time falling asleep last night–because it’s going to be 74 degrees! 74 degrees one week before Christmas. It’s supposed to drop back to the 50s on Wednesday, but I’ve been very much enjoying the warm weather the last few days. I am not a cold weather person at all and don’t even mention the “S” word around me. You know what S word I’m talking about–that cold, wet, white stuff that likes to fall from the skies in the winter. I don’t want to hear it. Keep it far, far away from me and let me have my 70 degree days!
