The husband and I went out last night to finish up our Christmas shopping. Now all I need to do is get the last couple of things for the husband and we’re done. Well, besides the gift boxes and bags I also need to get, but they don’t really count.
Since my parents aren’t coming for Christmas and we’re not going there, my mom ordered our gifts and had them shipped directly to us. My gift arrived the other day. The husband opened it before I got home (he always opens boxes, even if they don’t have his name on them, and it drives me crazy this time of year when the box might contain a Christmas present that he’s not supposed to see ahead of time). I had sent my mom a list of books that I wanted to read and told her to choose from them what to get me. So I saw the box and saw that it was open and knew it contained books–and do you know how hard it is for me to not look in that box?? I’m trying to be patient because Christmas is only five days away now, but I am not known for my patience. I finished one of the books I was reading so I’m itching to start another, but I don’t want to buy any new books in case I unknowingly get one that my mom bought for me.
In other news, I got the contract for my books yesterday! My agent and the people at Amulet worked really fast to get it done before the holidays. Who knew I could get so excited over paper?
Oh wow! You have the contract already! Be sure to get hubby to take a picture of you when you sign it (if you guys have a video camera, even better) 🙂 Again, I am SO happy for you, Shana!!!
Thanks for the reminder! I had already thought about getting a picture of me holding my first advance check when it comes, but I hadn’t even thought about a picture of the signing. Thanks! 😀
Congrats! Do you have a designated contract-signing pen?
Not yet, but maybe I should get one! 😀
Woo-hoo — this means you got a little extra money too, I trust — wonderful Christmas news 🙂
Yep! A great way to end the year and start a new one! 😀
Definitely take a picture! You’ll want a reminder. When I get a contract I totally will be like, bronzing the pen I used to sign it or something. I framed my first magazine article and when I started teaching college (this was like 6 years ago) I took a picture of my name on the book required for the class form in the university bookstore (you know how they hang in front of the stack of books?). Yeah, kind of lame but I was 25 and super excited. Anyway, congrats again on your contract!
