Thankful

I’ve always loved Thanksgiving. I think this is because of my grandpa’s banana pudding and candied yams. Yum!

Okay, it’s not all about the food. I have a large extended family on both my mom and my dad’s side, with lots and lots of aunts, uncles, and cousins. And on each side, we all cram into a tiny house to eat Thanksgiving together. All ages, from my 89 year old great-grandmother to the cousin who is still a few months away from being born. And it’s fun because my family is crazy. I have an aunt who convinces each generation of kids in the family that she’s the Tooth Fairy. A grand uncle who tells hilarious stories about things my grandma did when she was younger. Relatives who will argue about any little insignificant thing they can think of just for the sake of arguing. And more drama than two soap operas combined.

I’m thankful for having a home, a job, food, and clothes, but most of all I’m thankful for my family. They sometimes do things that drive me crazy, but I know they’ll all be there when I need them.

To all of my American friends, have a happy Thanksgiving tomorrow. To all my other friends, have a great end of the week and weekend. I’ll be running all around and stuffing myself with too much food tomorrow, then off to Florida on Friday, and will be back sometime Sunday night.
