Approaching the finish line

I considered taking my laptop to Florida with me so I could write during the ride there and back, but at the last minute decided not to. I really didn’t want to have to keep an eye on the thing while traveling. So I did zero writing during those three days and stayed at 41,203 words in the NaNoWriMo book.

It was nice having some time away from it. Yesterday I pushed myself to get some extra words in to catch up and I made it to 44,533. 5467 words to go. I think the book will be a little longer than 50K when it’s complete, but it shouldn’t be too much more. I also have a scene I need to add to the very beginning of the book because I decided to add in a new subplot when I was halfway through the draft, something that needs to occur right at the start of the story. So that will be a few more extra words to add in. Yesterday’s words were a struggle, but I’m hoping today goes better. I’ll be starting the big climatic scene and I’ve been looking forward to writing it all along.
