The rain and flooding started yesterday before Ernesto even reached us. When I went out to lunch at 1:00pm yesterday, the street I usually take to the Chinese restaurant was already flooded. I didn’t notice until I had turned onto the road. I paused, wondering if I should go ahead through it or not. I drive a Kia Rio, affectionately known as the Clown Car among the husband and me because it’s so small. The car in front of me went on through and there were cars turning in behind me and coming from the other direction so I couldn’t turn around easily, so I went on through. I made it, slowly, but I took a different way back to the office after I got my lunch.
The main street through downtown is flooded in some spots this morning, so it was kind of like an obstacle course to get to work. The town I live in was in the direct path Ernesto is taking through the area, so there are down tree limbs all through town.
I was hoping the power would be out at work so I could go back home. No such luck. The power flickered a few times early this morning at my house (the husband had to get up at 4:00am this morning), but never stayed out for longer than a few minutes.
I’m so sorry! Sending hugs, and hoping the flooding clears up soon. Stay safe. 🙂
