I think I’m supposed to say something about the Carolina Hurricanes and the Stanley Cup. Since the last time I checked I was still living in North Carolina. But I don’t particularly care for sports in general. I watched bits and pieces of the games because my husband would turn the TV there during commercial breaks, but we didn’t watch the final game. We flipped it over to the NBC station in time to see all the confetti raining down and figured out that the Hurricanes had won.
Really the only thing I had to say about my state’s team winning was, “How did a team from the south beat Canadians at hockey? I thought Canada owned hockey.” But maybe the Hurricanes players actually are Canadian and so then it’s not that strange. I have no clue. I’m not a sports fan at all so I know nothing about the players. I’m the person who can’t stop giggling during the game because the goalies always look like they have REALLY, REALLY tiny heads. All that padding they wear makes their bodies look like the Incredible Hulk but in contrast their heads look like a golf ball plunked down between the shoulder pads. It always amuses me.
Besides, everything I know about hockey came from repeated watchings of The Mighty Ducks when I was a kid. If Joshua Jackson didn’t do it in the movie, then I have no clue what’s going on during a real game.
But congratulations to the Hurricanes anyway! Even if it does take forever for anyone to score a goal in hockey and geez I don’t remember the games being that slow to score in The Mighty Ducks so I really can’t become a hockey fan because I just don’t have the patience to watch that puck go back and forth so many times without anyone hitting it into the goal, whether or not my state’s team wins the cup.
Well, we DO own hockey…
which is why Edmonton is crying the blues right now, LOL. I’m Canadian, but I’m not a sports girl either. Your take on goalies made me laugh! Looks good on the Hurricanes…I’m just glad it’s over so my soap (Coronation Street from the UK) will stop being pre-empted.
I’m a newbie over at the blueboards, and I just started a livejournal…could I add you to my friends list, Shana?
Thanks!
Elizabeth

LOL, I’m always happy when football is over so my shows will stop being pre-empted too. 😉
I’d be honored if you added me! I’m adding you to my list as well. 😀
