Middle of the night progress

I finished the first draft of Girlfriend at about 4:00am this morning. I could not fall asleep last night, which has been a recurring thing lately. So I got the laptop out and settled on the couch to write. But the story has ended up 6000 words short of my minimum goal, so in the revisions I’ll be adding in several new scenes. I have some ideas for a few scenes already so hopefully getting those extra words won’t be too difficult.

I’m not sure on how I feel about the story yet. I always hate my first drafts right when I finish them. I have to put the story away for a while and get some distance before I can determine how good or bad it really is. I do still like Natalie and Jackson, though, I’m just not sure of their story as a whole. But we’ll see in a month or two when I look at it again.

Now I need to read over Band Geeks again, do the revisions on Emma that were suggested by my test readers, and start on my next project. After I decide what that project will be.

It is nice someone responded. I think even if it couldn’t be the author that someone took the time out for young readers.
