We live down a two lane highway outside of town, in the southern part of the county. South of the river, the true redneck area of the county. (Our rival high school always liked to joke that we were all tired at night at the games because we’d had to get up at the crack of dawn to milk our cows. Our side of the county is mostly farms.) Usually, people decorate their lawns with junk cars or fifty million garden gnomes and miniature lighthouses.
Yesterday the husband and I noticed that someone down the street from us had added some lawn ornaments to their yard. The first thing we noticed were two huge pink flamingos. Then we noticed about ten small British flags in a rectangular shape behind the flamingos. And on the outside of the flags was another rectangular box created by tiny–only a few inches tall–pink flamingos.
There is a sign set up between the two big flamingos, but the text is too small to read as you pass by and it’s positioned so that you’d have to pull into the driveway of the house to read it.
What do pink flamingos and British flags have in common? The husband and I are stumped.
