I debated yesterday whether to make this a Larisa Oleynick weekend or a Julia Stiles weekend. I started with 10 Things I Hate About You. I’ve seen it a billion and two times already and could probably quote the entire movie from start to finish, but I never get tired of it. I even sing along to all the background songs while I’m watching.
After I finished 10 Things, I stood in front of my videos and DVDs, trying to decide if I should watch The Baby-Sitters Club Movie (making it a Larisa Oleynick weekend) or O (making it a Julia Stiles weekend). In the end, I watched The Princess Diaries and made it a Larry Miller weekend. I like to coordinate my weekend movie watching around a certain theme.
I’ve already been working on one new novel (which uses the working name “Band Geeks” though that’s not the full title), but yesterday I couldn’t help myself and started a second (using the working name “Emma,” which is just the main character’s name and not the title at all). I usually like to work on just one book at a time or else I’ll get confused on my storylines and characters. Hopefully I can keep two separate stories and not start blending them together, which wouldn’t be a good idea since Band Geeks is for a slightly younger audience than Emma. Both stories want to be written RIGHT THIS MINUTE and refuse to take no for an answer, sneaking up on me while I’m driving or washing dishes or trying to sleep.
I’m kind of worried about how Band Geeks will turn out, but I try not to think about that too much and just have fun with it at this stage.
