The Next Big Thing hop

I was tagged by Shel Delisle for The Next Big Thing blog hop. It’s a hop where many authors have answered the same questions about their projects and it’s fun to see all the answers from a variety of authors!

The basic run down is that the authors answer the questions about either something they’re working on or something they’ve published, and then you have to tag five other authors. Since Submerging just released this week, I’m going to answer the questions about it.

Ten Interview Questions for The Next Big Thing:

What is the working title of your book?

The full title is Submerging (Swans Landing Book Two). But you can call it just Submerging, lol!

Where did the idea come from for the book?

The idea for the series first came from a trip my husband and I took to the Outer Banks of North Carolina during the off season. It was very early April and the islands were so quiet and empty. It made me wonder how the year round residents lived when the tourists weren’t there and what kind of secrets they might keep that the visitors don’t see.

What genre does your book fall under?

It’s young adult paranormal romance.

Which actors would you choose to play your characters in a movie rendition?

I actually have a Pinterest board about this, lol! I’d pick Lucy Hale as Sailor and Matthew Atkinson as Josh. I’m not sure who would be Callum though. I haven’t picked someone for him yet.

What is the one-sentence synopsis of your book?

Sailor Mooring searches for her mother and the ancestral home of the finfolk, but finds that nothing is what she expected.

Will your book be self-published or represented by an agency?

It’s self-published.

How long did it take you to write the first draft of your manuscript?

A few months. I got stuck halfway through the first draft and had to take a break. Then I started over and things went much better the second time around.

What other books would you compare this story to within your genre?

Hmm…I don’t know. I haven’t come across a lot of mermaid books yet!

Who or What inspired you to write this book?

Really, my love of mermaids and of the Outer Banks inspired the series!

What else about your book might pique the reader’s interest?

Four words: Hot Scottish finfolk guy. 😀

Okay, with the release of Submerging giving me some problems and other events this weekend, I kind of never got around to emailing authors about doing this. I’m so terrible at following directions! 🙁 So I’m going to tag some authors and if they do it, great! If not, that’s okay too, you can still check out their blogs below to get to know these authors.

Laura Rae Amos

Katie Klein

Kristina Springer

Marie Lamba

R.H. Russell

Be sure to also check out Shel’s answers to these questions over at her blog! Thanks for the tag, Shel!

P.S. – If you’ve been waiting for the Amazon version of Submerging to go on sale, it’s finally available! Yay!!
